Project: Workman Farm / Midlothian, MD

I combine the commercial planning skills of a landscape architect with the systems knowledge of a former sustainable agriculture professor to create farms that work as businesses. My specialty lies in Agritourism—designing efficient farm systems and inviting farm stores that draw customers in. By optimizing site circulation for visitors and creating engaging retail environments, I help small farms turn their operations into profitable destinations, ensuring the layout serves both the daily harvest and the customer experience.

My approach to farm planning is shaped by a unique trifecta of experience: 25 years as a builder and Landscape Architect, a decade as a professor of sustainable agriculture, and certified expertise in Permaculture Design.

I don’t just design farms; I engineer agricultural ecosystems. I work with growers to design:

  • Farm Retail & Agritourism: Attractive farm stores and visitor spaces that turn a working farm into a community hub

  • High-Functioning Systems: Intelligent layouts that minimize labor and maximize yield.

  • Business Branding and Profitable Marketing Systems: I can show you how to build a community and commerce around your brand and agricultural products.
